Website Alert!!

Hey, all.  I've taken the plunge and actually built a website.  Yes, me.  I did.  Semi-computer illiterate Terri Rochenski.

After doing some research, I found Weebly.com which offers freebies that can always be upgraded later.  Let me tell you... SUPER easy to use!!  Drag & click features that any moron (that would be me most days) can figure out.

I'll be keeping this blog--I just realized I can direct link from my website.  Weeeee! 

Click & check it out!  I'd love some feedback.  Suggestions for improvement please, for we all know there's going to be room for that!!!

Trudging though Edit Swampland

I'm doing just that. 

It's amazing how overwhelming edits & revisions can be.  Overshadowing all that is the fact that my self-inflicted deadline of April is fast approaching, and I really want to start querying agents.

THAT brings up another overwhelming thought.  Do agents / publishers really require an online presence?  I've read & heard all kinds of conflicting information on this, but the fact of the matter is I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF ONE YET!!! 

THUS the biggest headache of all.  How to build one?  Google it & you'll end up with the biggest headache of all. 

I Twitter and have a Facebook page, but trying to keep current with even those (let alone a blog!!!) is almost too much for a mommy with two toddlers.  Sigh.

How do you network?  Find motivation to blog?  Motivate yourself through revisions?

My 4th Publication!

Well, my 4th fantasy flash story, Blessed Curse, was published today!  Yeah!!  Anyone interested can check it out at Yesteryear Fiction.

Show & Tell

And of course, I don't mean the kind we do in grade school.


It's a huge debate on the writing forums I frequent - the whole show don't tell thing.  Well, Writer's Digest has a great article this month called, 'Tried & True, Timeless Novel Advice'.  Here's Fred East's quote from June 1944:

"If you tell the reader that Bull Beezley is a brutal-faced, loose-lipped bully with snake's blood in his veins, the reader's reaction may be, 'Oh, yeah!'  But if you show the reader Bull Beezley raking the bloodied flanks of his weary, sweat-encrusted pony, and flogging the tottering, red-eyed animal with a quirt, or have him booting in the protruding ribs of a starved mongrel and boy, the reader believes!"

That about sums up any other blog I could possibly do on this subject.  What are your thoughts on show vs. tell?  Have you found such a statement to make this clearer?
