Ah, lovely Thursday, how busy a day you've become.

Anyone else have that one day of the week they want to pull their hair out upon waking? 

Yeah, that's my weekly Thursday.

Between school drop offs, meeting the bus for pick up, diapers & breastfeeding, gymnastics & the rush to get home at 5 & get dinner on the table ... might not seem like all that much, but there's nothing worse than RUSHING to get things done.

Same goes for writing. And editing.

Rushing through, fingers flying across the keyboard to finally write 'the end' can be hazardous. Some writer friends of mine jot down the bare bones in a mad dash to finish, only to go back and flesh out the scenes later.

I have a hard time doing that.

Why?

Because by the time I sit to write, I've replayed each scene a dozen times within my mind, from emotional responses to the surrounding images. Perhaps it's my borderline-OCD, but I need things in order. Slap sticking a scene onto paper (or into a word doc) just won't jive with my mind, for I'm bound to forget one little nugget of detail gold that makes the scene come alive.

How about you? Are you a bare bones writer / lover of editing, or do you strive to get it as close to 'right' the first time around?
