New Release from @RoanePublishing THE WOLF PRINCE #Shifters #Werewolf

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO
THE WOLF PRINCE!

The Wolf Prince
A Shifter Romance Novella
Publisher: Roane Publishing
Release Date: June 19, 2017

Keywords: Werewolf, Celtic, Irish, Dublin, shapeshifter, sidhe, fairies, fey, magic, prophecy

Claire O’Neil grew up hearing stories from her grandmother’s Irish homeland.  Her grandmother seemed to be personally acquainted with exotic fairies, mischievous pixies, even powerfully seductive shape-shifters.  On the eve of the older woman’s funeral, Claire is visited again by strangely erotic dreams which began on her sixteenth birthday, dreams which leave her breathless and aroused by the shadowy presence of a mysterious stranger.  At the funeral itself, she is approached by a foreigner who carries a letter from her grandmother.  Following the instructions in the letter, Claire is whisked away to Ireland to discover the legacy left behind by her grandmother.

Once in the Emerald Isle Claire is stunned to learn that her grandmother’s stories were real: the Dubh Sidhe and the Four Fey Courts of Dublin do exist.   More shockingly, an ancient prophecy has tied their fate to hers. At a chance encounter Claire comes face-to-face with the stranger from her dreams, and breathless doesn’t begin to describe the effect he has on her!  As she finds herself caught between rivals for leadership of the shape-shifters, Claire is kidnapped and held in seclusion by the mysterious stranger’s brother as part of their battle for leadership of the their family.  Only Claire can help the mysterious stranger to save himself and his clan from losing their power forever.  If she chooses to…and if she can accept that passion can take many forms.

GUEST POST:
The inspiration behind The Wolf Prince

Ireland…right? Emerald green hills, misty mornings, mysterious corners of auld Dublin town…it all cries out “listen…we want to tell you a story!”

At the time I wrote The Wolf Prince, I was living in Dublin as the plus-one for a corporate rotation.  My partner had to go to the office every day…I went, well, wherever I wanted.

I soon discovered that every part of Dublin has its own unique character.  And I don’t mean like any town has its own personality.  I mean different blocks on the same street are like entirely separate worlds.  And the parks…oh, the parks!  Three in particular drew me again and again.

St. Stephen’s Green is neutral ground where everybody can gather and it has a little bit of everything.  Iveagh Gardens is a secret corner with fallen down statues and old fountains that brood over the few picnickers who find their way there.  Marlay Park is a wild place where you just KNOW the Fae linger in the moonlight hoping that a human child wanders by.  Each has its own soul.

And yet…

There is something that connects them all.  I wandered through them, my pen and notebook in hand, feeling that somehow Iveagh knew that I had just been in St. Stephen’s…and when visiting Marlay Park it was like the wildlife had heard from their relatives closer to town that it was ok to let me pass. Knowledge seemed to pass like a breeze through the tree branches, through the very air of what they call the Fair City.

I became more and more convinced of that connection.  And, over my various visits I started to sense some population, some group of inhabitants just out of reach of our human perception active behind the scenes. At one point, I saw a sign for Dublin’s “Four Courts” and I had a revelation.  Ireland used to be four separate kingdoms.  And now, what remains just out of sight out is fairy legacy of four separate courts, each distinct, but each connect in this hidden, shadow Dublin.  Each has its politics, its squabbles and, like the town, its own distinct character.  As the wildest of the urban parks, it felt right that the Marlay court of “Sidhe” (pronounced “she”) would be the wildest, the most animal…the shapeshifters.

Then all I had to do was listen…and this story and others came to me…so if you happened to be passing through St. Stephen’s Green some time back and saw a woman with ice-blond hair being watched over by a plump, elegant swan while chatting with a stranger scribbling frantically to capture everything…that stranger was me…and as for what I was working so hard to capture, well, that’s the story you’ll find in The Wolf Prince.  The city told me many tales during my stay, but this was the first. I hope you enjoy it!

p.s. I love hearing from readers!  Please feel free to drop me a note at jayeraymee@gmail.com and I look forward to hearing from you!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jaye has been writing since at least the age of eight, and still cherishes that very first manuscript about a knight kissing a maiden. While the subject matter has evolved from those days, the human condition in all its varied forms and all its joyful expressions of intimacy remains central to Jaye's writing. Found anywhere from a small town on California's San Francisco Peninsula to the wild corners of Ireland, Jaye can often be spotted quietly scribbling in a series of notebooks, where stories are born. You may have run into Jaye just this morning at your local cafe and never realized it.

On SALE now! A Tinfoil Hat of My Own #Fantasy #Paranormal #Bikers #Werewolves #99cents

•**•.On Sale Now!•**•.

A Tinfoil Hat of My Own
This is a short, fun, quirky read. It is perfect for a few minutes of escapism into a fantastical world filled with laughs and eye rolls. I highly recommend this short story.”—5 ★ #review on Amazon.

Bikers are sort of pissy. So are werewolves.

Dealing with the devastating end to her long-term relationship with Cobweb, Eunice decides to pick up the broken pieces of her heart and glue them back together with the healing song of nature and a nourishing brandy to replenish the soul.

As evening falls on her drunken pity party in the park, it's time to head home and deal with the consequences of the not-so-anonymous tip to the cops and what she may or may not have done to Cobweb's bike--and clubhouse.

All thoughts of that end when something bigger than a pissed off biker gets ahold of her--nothing says burning calories like booking it through woods with a mermaid-killing werewolf at your heels.

Will Cobweb miss her? Will Eunice survive?

Friendship, bikers, werewolves, and repurposed tinfoil. Some stories just have it all.

What Ethan doesn’t know is that Shelley has plans. Plans that have been in progress for weeks. Ones that Ethan will never see coming, and that she’s banked on him not knowing a thing about.

REVIEW

So anyone who knows me, knows I am a HUGE Ethan fan. Heck, Ms. Belfield even mentioned in the acknowledgements of this little novella that I begged for the story to be written. Like...begged. Salivated and got on my knees.

Anyhoo.

Ethan Holloway as we've never seen him - enjoying a birthday present only Shelly can give him. Lucky duck, let me tell you! Hot damn. I don't want to give too much away, yet I want to gush over the details. The choice of words. The heat. The need to bite. Mate. Ms. Belfield rocks yet another story with her ability to create pictures within your mind. Oh, and what a movie this is!!!

Woof!

This novella is exactly what the Holloway Pack series needed...a bit of werewolf naughty minus the fur and fangs. Ms. Belfield stays true to her voice, the characters, and setting, giving us a glimpse into the lives of my favorite pack. From a breakfast feast around the family-sized table to Ethan's boxers, this short read satisfies a smidge more than the other titles.  *wink wink*

A MUST READ! Nab your copy now FOR FREE, then be sure to check out the rest of the Holloway Pack titles.

So go grab your copy QUICK and then leave a review for a chance to enter in the giveaway (details in the Rafflecopter link below.)

Werewolf Sean Holloway treats the village marketplace like a sexual buffet, though his charm does little to win over his latest entrée of choice. Whether because of Jem Stonehouse’s unique scent, her headstrong nonchalance, or the fact he is forbidden to see her by his pack’s rules, Sean wants her.
When Jem is nothing but flippant toward his advances, he pursues her with vigour, stealing moments alone with her without a libido-driven agenda.
The new and heady experience for him drives their relationship beyond romantic interest, and straight toward love.
That is, until Jem learns the truth about Sean’s heritage. Knowledge of the existence of werewolves leads to only one outcome: death.
In this prequel to Darkness & Light*, we are taken back in time, to the very beginning of Jem and Sean’s love-across-the-centuries relationship.
Did it end there? Or did Sean defy his own pack to save the woman he loves?

EXCERPT:

The marketplace had to be the best venue to pick up females. At the age of twenty, I would have been happy to visit every day, but James would not permit me. As Alpha, his commands were followed without question, so my visits were limited to once a week. I had to admit, it worked out better that way.
From fruit to art, to lace, to the blacksmith’s stall, I walked. Paintings of marketplaces often depicted them as cheery, colourful, and bustling with activity. The latter conception may have been correct; although, they leaned more toward grey and dreary than bright, and the air often filled with yells of anger and bitterness, as opposed to joyful greetings.
At least there were the scents: hams and boars’ heads, fruits, wines, the steam of cooking soups, and, my most favourite of all, the freshness of ripe women. Lorna Rushford, Helena Longbarrow, Matilda Thornberry named only a few, each of those alone bringing with her a memory.
The females noticed me as much as I did them, even though my past catches never approached, never asked why I had not called to visit, or if I would tend them again. Of course, my refusal to conform to the current trends in attire ensured I stood out from the other males who bothered to arrive. Whereas the women’s glances would be appraising, perhaps even hopeful, the men’s glares offered nothing but scorn for my dark trousers tucked into knee-high leather boots, and for the shirts I never bothered to secure with their woven laces. Men had been hung for far less than inconsiderate fashion sense, yet I did not care. I was not like them and never pretended to be.
A whisper drifted across, as I meandered through the crowd: “’Tis Mr Holloway, Eleanor.”
With a tilt of my head, I spotted the speaker leaning into her sister, who fluttered her lashes in a clear attempt to catch my attention.
Eleanor had turned out to be a worthy virgin. The scent of her blood had driven me wild as I had plunged into her.
I smiled to myself as I turned away.
Farther along, pausing to sample the crisp apples, I caught Mrs Lawson’s scent. The older ladies may not have been as pure, but they could not be denied their eagerness to please. For that reason alone, they made for an entertaining afternoon.
My nose lifted to track her, and I found the woman beyond a table stacked high with fresh loaves, hidden behind her fan, which she waved with vigour. I recalled that her petticoat had held many layers, and the removal of them turned out to be almost as much fun as the act itself. I wondered how she had explained the damage to her pompous husband.
At a new aroma begging for notice, my step faltered as my nostrils flared.
Strong, yet understated, alluring and seductive, the unsullied flavour carried the exceptional deliciousness of womanly musk. Possessed by a need to find the source, I tilted my head and allowed my nose to lead.
It should have been difficult, impossible even, to locate such subtlety amongst the overpowering wafts of food and body odours, yet the strong pull beckoned to me, drawing me on.
Whispers continued, as I passed one stall after another, but they no longer held my interest. My mind seemed only able to focus on the unfamiliar scent. Although it intensified with each step, I half wished for a stronger breeze to invade the clear morning, to bring me a more wholesome dose and appease my sudden and unbidden greed.
My eyes shifted, as I moved, searching. I skimmed over those who held no appeal, the ones whose flavour had already been tasted, until, at the end of the row ahead, I spotted two young women.
From the angle of their positions, I doubted they could see me. The purchasing of herbs distracted the darker haired of the two. Animated, she possessed a flamboyance which showed in her movements, and in her pleasant tones, as she bartered with the stall owner.
I imagined she would get her own way with the price.
To her side stood a fairer female, with a quiet calm that showed in the relaxed set of her shoulders. Taking a step closer, I studied her.
Appearing younger, almost lacking in confidence, she was also somewhat taller and certainly far more beautiful. I did not recognise her, yet could not mistake her scent. I had been tracking it for the past five minutes.
Leaning across the jewellery on the stall beside me, I caught the proprietor’s attention. “Who is the girl?” I asked, pointing toward the one who held me so rapt.
“Regular of mine.” He nodded and smiled. “The Stonehouse sisters often purchase my quartz and amethyst.”
As he spoke their name in a conspicuous overtone, the females turned.
Blue eyes, as dark as sapphires, appraised me from beneath wisps of blonde, and a smile widened the girl’s lips, as my own mouth curved at the corners.
Beside her, the darker girl leaned into the fair tresses of her sister. “Sean Holloway is a ladies’ man and not to be trusted,” she hissed, her words carrying to me with ease, before she walked off. When her sister remained, gaze locked with mine, the seemingly older girl called out, “Come along, Jem. Mother is waiting.”
My eyebrow twitched upward. Jem?
With her attention tugged back toward her departing sibling, she dipped her head and followed behind.
Still, the essence her body had left in its wake lured me, and, unable to do otherwise, I trailed after her.

Forest fog

Today marks the RE-release of J.A. Belfield's Darkness & Light, first book in the Holloway Pack series.

And to celebrate it's release, as well as her birthday (which is also TODAY) there's a GREAT giveaway going on.

But first, let's check out the book.

Darkness & LightJem Stonehouse, a housewife with a neurotic husband bent on keeping her in line, dreams about werewolves in, what she believes, is a bid to escape boredom.
Sean Holloway is a werewolf, living a charade within the human race, whose mind drifts to a bond he shares with a woman he hasn't met — at least, not in this lifetime.
Apart, the two are safe but live unfulfilled lives.
Together, they'll become prey to rival packs just as they have been for hundreds of years.
When their worlds collide, and not for the first time, instinct takes over. Dreams become reality. Futures are uncertain. To keep history from repeating itself, Sean must teach Jem about his heritage, convince her of her role, and win her love.
Can Jem accept her destiny before it's too late, or is her inner wolf buried too deep to save her future with Sean?

What's your favorite urban fantasy? Bullet: a Demos City Novel #UF #Giveaway

As part of Mr. Lister's Bullet blog tour, I asked him to share his favorite UF  books.

Think he missed any?

Urban fantasy is a massive genre. Authors housed in its categories find room to create myriad tales ranging from bustling cities to backwater hamlets. All of them, of course, house one or more aspects of the supernatural. Some are so dense; it's hard to tell if there are any normal humans left. Regardless of the backdrop, some titles rise above their brethren in both sales and popularity. Here's my list of the best urban fantasy books out there, both old and new.

10. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis
Not urban fantasy you say? While that may be true of further books in the series, consider the setting of the inaugural novel. Children sent to live in the English countryside to escape the atrocious bombing of London at the hands of the Nazis during World War II. It doesn't get much more urban, or eminently real, than The Blitz. Can anyone else think of a better reason to escape to a magical world filled with talking beavers and dithering satyrs?

9. The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
Sorry, can't pick just one novel out of Butcher's series. They're all engaging in their own way, though the 'power creep' of Harry's magical abilities tends to lessen the true stakes as time goes on. What could be more interesting than the books themselves is how hard Butcher had to work to get them in print in the first place.

8. The Last Werewolf - Glen Duncan
Existential crisis meets lycanthropy meets finding a reason to live if only to die well. Duncan's singular wit propels this book from one page to the next giving the reader something literary and contradictory to chew on at just about every turn. As the protagonist, Jake, often says: God being dead, irony still rip-roaringly alive.

7. The Hum and The Shiver - Alex Bledsoe
Hooked from the first sentence, Bledsoe takes Appalachian mysticism and molds it into a modern tale of xenophobia and reaching out into the wide world. Seriously people, go pick this book up now and put its pages inside your brain. Go now!

6. A Dirty Job - Christopher Moore
So, your child is a reaper, and you're a beta male. Oh, and your wife just died. Doesn't sound like the backdrop for an entertaining read, but that's why our author here is such a damn genius. Moore is hilarious and his insightful takes on the urban fantasy genre, as in all his novels, could've easily filled this list. Had to pick just one since I used my 'entire series' card earlier. Curses!

5. American Gods - Neil Gaiman
Everything this man touches turns into a standard bearer for the genre, and usually spawns a movie, television rights...or at least a successful radio play. This novel brings our disparate mythologies and systems of belief and melds them into a cohesive tale that spans the United States.

4. Fevre Dream - George R.R. Martin
That's right kids. It's not all Game of Thrones . Martin's vampire novel tends to fly under the radar in the face of his enormously successful fantasy series, but it's not to be missed. Its pages are dense with suspense and the same kind of rich history that makes Westeros so engaging.

3. Dead Witch Walking - Kim Harrison
The novel that opened the floodgates on reading in the genre for many of us, Harrison embodies the protagonist like a demon possessing a fleshy mortal. Admit it: you always knew Cincinnati was some kind of den of evil where all manner of supernatural creatures roam.

2. Dracula - Bram Stoker
Call it gothic, if you want, but you can't escape the urban and the fantastical elements that provide the template for every other novel in the same *ahem* vein.

1. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Yeah, I said it, Harry Potter is urban fantasy. Wanna fight about it? This is Rowling's 'Empire Strikes Back' of the series, where we see the bad guys gain a sizable upper hand. The emotional turmoil, the torn relationships and the very adult circumstances the main characters deal with is well above any 'children's book' moniker the uninitiated might attach to it.

Bullet

by Jonathan Lister
Release Date: June 16, 2014
Target Reader: Adult
Keywords: Urban Fantasy, Werewolf

A father’s love doesn’t bend, so what happens when it breaks?

Corruption, dark truths, and a new Alpha mean Leon Gray’s days of running without a pack are over. At least, that’s what everyone but him believes.

He’d rather be helping his teenage daughter navigate the landmine life of a full werewolf, finish out his servitude as bodyguard to a former Demos City reporter and, in all honesty, not be taken advantage of by a beautiful woman who really only wants him for his body—figuratively and metaphorically.

Of course, the only way any of that might happen is if he’s dead. That’s likely given the information the reporter has unearthed and the territorial battles already underway between packs. If only Demos City's corruption didn’t have such deep roots—older than the bones of the city or any of the werewolves who’ve decided to claim it. A city can only take so many power hungry mongrels invading it at one time, and Leon can only take so much knowing his daughter lives within its boundaries.

War has come to Demos City.

It’s up to Leon to fix ... what's most important to him.

Bullet, a Demos City Novel is Jonathan’s second book-length work of fiction. He currently lives in the Philadelphia area and continues to drink too much coffee.

QUOTES FROM MR. LISTER'S PRESS RELEASE

“The uniqueness in the Demos City stories is that the supernatural and humans know of one another,” says J. Taylor Publishing. “It’s just part of life in Demos City, but what happens when one infringes on the other or turf wars impede progress? Therein lies the fundamental problems with a society that knows about supernaturals and Jonathan is poised to tell the story for many books to come.”
“What are werewolves? Animals or people? Why do we believe the answer that pops into our head?” asks J. Taylor Publishing. “Readers expect certain things from characters and supernaturals specifically because they’ve been taught with other books to believe ‘x’ when in the Demos City case, Jonathan totally turns those preconceived notions on the head.”
